Rāvaṇa’s Assault on Nīla and Lakṣmaṇa; Hanumān Bears Rāma
जानामिवीर्यंतवराक्षसेन्द्रबलंप्रतापंचपराक्रमंच ।अवस्थितोऽहंशरचापपाणिरागच्छकिंमोघविकत्थनेन ।।6.59.98।।
jānāmi vīryaṃ tava rākṣasendra balaṃ pratāpaṃ ca parākramaṃ ca |
avasthito ’haṃ śaracāpapāṇir āgaccha kiṃ moghavikatthanena ||6.59.98||
“ഹേ രാക്ഷസേന്ദ്ര, നിന്റെ വീര്യം, ബലം, പ്രതാപം, പരാക്രമം എല്ലാം ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു. ഞാൻ ശരചാപം കൈയിൽ പിടിച്ച് സന്നദ്ധനായി നില്ക്കുന്നു; വരിക—വൃഥാ പൊങ്ങച്ചം എന്തിനു?”
"Your valour, heroism, strength and prowess are known to me. I stand firmly with bow and arrow come on. What is the use of bragging"
Dharma favors duty performed over self-advertisement. Lakṣmaṇa acknowledges the opponent’s power truthfully (Satya), yet rejects vain speech—right action, not bragging, is the measure of a warrior.
Lakṣmaṇa challenges Rāvaṇa to fight directly, stating he is prepared and that verbal boasting is pointless on the battlefield.
