युद्धकाण्डे एकोनषष्टितमः सर्गः

दिष्ट्यासिमेराघव दृष्टिमार्गंप्राप्तोऽन्तगामीविपरीतबुद्धिः ।अस्मिन् क्षणेयास्यसिमृत्युदेशंसम्पाद्यमानोममबाणजालैः ।।6.59.96।।

diṣṭyāsi me rāghava dṛṣṭimārgaṃ prāpto ’ntagāmī viparītabuddhiḥ |

asmin kṣaṇe yāsyasi mṛtyudeśaṃ sampādyamāno mama bāṇajālaiḥ ||6.59.96||

“ദൈവയോഗം തന്നെ, ഹേ രാഘവ, നീ എന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിപഥത്തിൽ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. വിപരീതബുദ്ധിയോടെ അന്തത്തിലേക്കു നീങ്ങുന്ന നീ, എന്റെ ബാണജാലങ്ങളാൽ വേധിക്കപ്പെട്ട്, ഈ ക്ഷണത്തിൽ തന്നെ മരണദേശത്തേക്കു പോകും.”

The verse highlights the adharma of arrogant, violence-glorifying speech—threatening death as triumph. In the Ramayana’s ethical frame, mere power and intimidation are not Dharma; righteousness is measured by restraint, justice, and truth-aligned intent.

In the battlefield of Laṅkā, Rāvaṇa taunts his opponent, claiming Lakṣmaṇa has come within his range and will be slain by his arrow-volley.

By contrast (through the scene’s setup), the virtue implied is steadfast courage under intimidation—standing firm against boastful threats.
