Great Vanara, Maruti shone like a triumphant hero and saviour in front of the army, just as Lord Vishnu, the Lord of Devatas shone after killing the foes (demons).
Dharma in crisis includes steadiness (dhairya); the verse sets up the need for leadership that restores courage and order when troops falter.
Under Akampana’s arrow barrage, the Vānara fighters lose formation and retreat.
Implicitly, the coming virtue is leadership and reassurance—someone must re-stabilize the frightened ranks.
