dṛṣṭvā dāśarathir laṅkāṃ citra-dhvaja-patākinīm |

jagāma sahasā sītāṃ dūyamānena cetasā ||

ദാശരഥി നാനാവിധ ധ്വജപതാകകളാൽ അലങ്കൃതമായ ലങ്കയെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ, അവന്റെ മനസ് ഉടൻ സീതയിലേക്കു പോയി; വ്യാകുലശോകം ഹൃദയം ദഹിപ്പിച്ചു.
