लङ्काप्राकारारोहणम् / Assault on Lanka’s Ramparts and the Opening Clash

तेताम्रवक्त्राहेमाभारामार्थेत्यक्तजीविताः ।लङ्कामेवाभ्यवर्तन्तसालतालशिलायुधाः ।।।।

te tāmravaktrā hemābhā rāmārthe tyaktajīvitāḥ |

laṅkām evābhyavartanta sālatālaśilāyudhāḥ ||

ചിലർ താമ്രമുഖരും ചിലർ സ്വർണ്ണകാന്തിപോലെ ദീപ്തരുമായ—രാമകാര്യത്തിനായി ജീവൻ പോലും പണയപ്പെടുത്തിയ വാനരർ, ശാല-താല വൃക്ഷങ്ങളും ശിലകളും ആയുധമാക്കി, നേരെ ലങ്കയിലേക്കു പാഞ്ഞുചെന്നു.
