विभीषणागमनम्
Vibhīṣaṇa’s Arrival and the Debate on Refuge
इत्युक्तेराघवायाऽथमतिमानङ्गदोऽग्रतः ।विभीषणपरीक्षार्थमुवाचवचनंहरिः ।।6.17.38।।
ity uktvā rāghavāyātha matimān aṅgado 'grataḥ |
vibhīṣaṇa-parīkṣārtham uvāca vacanaṃ hariḥ ||6.17.38||
ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞ ശേഷം, ബുദ്ധിമാനായ വാനരൻ അങ്കദൻ ഉടൻ തന്നെ രാഘവനോടു (ശ്രീരാമനോടു) വിഭീഷണനെ പരീക്ഷിക്കുവാൻ ഉദ്ദേശിച്ച് വചനമൊഴിഞ്ഞു.
Having said so, Angada the intelligent Vanara spoke these words immediately to Rama for judging Vibheeshana.
Dharma here is prudent righteousness: even when compassion is possible, a leader should verify intentions before granting trust, so that protection of the community is not compromised.
Vibhīṣaṇa has approached Rāma’s side from Laṅkā, and Angada begins advising Rāma to examine him before accepting him.
Angada’s viveka (discriminating judgment) and political prudence—speaking promptly to safeguard Rāma’s cause.
