tataḥ priyāraha-śravaṇātad-apriyaṁ paryādupaśrutya ciraṁ sā maithilī | mumoca bāṣpaṁ subhṛśaṁ pravepitā gajenadāra-hasta-ābhihatā iva sallakī ||

Translation

പ്രിയന്റെ കേൾക്കാൻ വേദനാജനകമായ വാക്കുകൾ കേട്ട മൈഥിലി ദീർഘനേരം കരഞ്ഞു; അവൾ ശക്തമായി വിറച്ചു, ധാരാളം കണ്ണുനീർ ചൊരിഞ്ഞു—മഹാബലവാനായ ആനയുടെ തുമ്പിക്കൈപോലുള്ള കൈയുടെ അടിയേറ്റ് വിറയുന്ന വള്ളിപോലെ।
