रावणक्रोधः—रामस्य परुषवाक्यम्
Ravana’s Fury and Rama’s Harsh Admonition
शूरोऽहमितिचात्मानमवगच्छसिदुर्मते ।नैवलज्जास्तितेसीतांचौरवद्वृपकर्षतः ।।।।
śūro 'ham iti cātmānam avagacchasi durmate |
aiva lajja sthite sītāṃ cauravad vṛpakarṣataḥ ||
ദുർമതിയേ! ‘ഞാൻ ശൂരൻ’ എന്നു നീ നിന്നെതന്നെ കരുതുന്നു; എന്നാൽ കള്ളനെപ്പോലെ സീതയെ വലിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുപോയപ്പോൾ നിനക്കു ലേശമെങ്കിലും ലജ്ജ ഉണ്ടായില്ല.
"O Evil minded fellow! You boast yourself as a hero, while you abducted Sita like a thief. Shame did not stand in your way."
Dharma requires inner moral conscience (lajjā) to restrain wrongdoing. Without shame and self-accountability, claims of honor or heroism are false.
Rāma concludes this segment of rebuke by contrasting Rāvaṇa’s self-image with the dishonorable manner of Sītā’s abduction.
Integrity—alignment between identity and action—is emphasized; true valor must be consistent with ethical conduct.
