Description of the Pushpaka Vimana and Ravana’s Inner Palace
बाहूनुपनिधायान्याः पारिहार्यविभूषितान्।अंशुकानि च रम्याणि प्रमदास्तत्र शिश्यिरे।।5.9.60।।
bāhūn upanidhāyānyāḥ pārihāryavibhūṣitān |
aṃśukāni ca ramyāṇi pramadās tatra śiśyire || 5.9.60 ||
അവിടെ ചില പ്രമദകൾ മാറ്റിവെച്ച ആഭരണങ്ങളോടെ, കൈകളെ തലയണയായി വെച്ച് ഉറങ്ങി; മറ്റുചിലർ മനോഹരമായ വസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ തലക്കീഴെ വിരിച്ച് ശയിച്ചു.
Some women slept pillowed on their arms, laying aside their adornments and others had their garment under the head as pillows and lay in sleep.
Dharma here is implicit: the narrative sets a scene of sensual ease and negligence, against which Hanumān’s restraint and duty-bound conduct stand out as righteous self-governance.
Hanumān quietly observes the palace chambers where women are asleep, noting their relaxed postures and discarded ornaments.
Hanumān’s vigilance and modesty—he looks only as required for the search, without violating propriety.
