शबरी-आश्रम-प्रवेशः

Rama and Lakshmana at Sabari’s Hermitage

इत्युक्ता जटिला वृद्धा चीरकृष्णाजिनाम्बरा।तस्मिन्मुहूर्ते शबरी देहं जीर्णं जिहासती।।।।अनुज्ञाता तु रामेण हुत्वात्मानं हुताशने।ज्वलत्पावकसङ्काशा स्वर्गमेव जगाम सा।।।।

ity uktā jaṭilā vṛddhā cīrakṛṣṇājināmbarā | tasmin muhūrte śabarī dehaṃ jīrṇaṃ jihāsatī ||

ഇങ്ങനെ അഭിസംബോധന ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ട ജടാധാരിണിയായ വൃദ്ധ—ചീരവും കറുത്ത അജിനവും ധരിച്ച ശബരി—അന്നേ നിമിഷം തന്നെ ജീർണ്ണമായ ദേഹം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുവാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചു.
