अयोमुखी-दर्शनम् तथा कबन्ध-प्रवेशः

Ayomukhi Encounter and the ظهور of Kabandha

ततः पूर्वेण तौ गत्वा त्रिक्रोशं भ्रातरौ तदा।क्रौञ्चारण्यमतिक्रम्य मतङ्गाश्रममन्तरा।।।।दृष्ट्वा तु तद्वनं घोरं बहुभीममृगद्विजम्।ननासत्त्वसमाकीर्णं सर्वं गहनपादपम्।।।।ददृशाते तु तौ तत्र दरीं दशरथात्मजौ।पातालसमगम्भीरां तमसा नित्यसंवृताम्।।।।

tataḥ pūrveṇa tau gatvā trikrōśaṃ bhrātarau tadā |

krauñcāraṇyam atikramya mataṅgāśramam antarā ||

dṛṣṭvā tu tad vanaṃ ghoraṃ bahubhīmamṛgadvijam |

nānāsattvasamākīrṇaṃ sarvaṃ gahanapādapam ||

dadṛśāte tu tau tatra darīṃ daśarathātmajau |

pātālasamagambhīrāṃ tamasā nityasaṃvṛtām ||

അപ്പോൾ ആ രണ്ടു സഹോദരന്മാർ കിഴക്കോട്ടു മൂന്നു ക്രോശം നടന്നു. മതംഗമുനിയുടെ ആശ്രമത്തിനടുത്തുള്ള ക്രൗഞ്ചാരണ്യം കടന്ന ശേഷം അവർ ഭയങ്കരമായ വനത്തെ കണ്ടു—ഘനവൃക്ഷങ്ങളാൽ ദുഷ്കടമായും, നാനാവിധ ജീവികളാൽ നിറഞ്ഞതുമായ, ഭീകര മൃഗപക്ഷികളാൽ സമാകീർണ്ണമായും. അവിടെ ദശരഥപുത്രന്മാർ പാതാളസമമായ അതിഗംഭീരവും നിത്യമായ തമസ്സാൽ മൂടപ്പെട്ടതുമായ ഒരു ഗുഹയെ ദർശിച്ചു.
