मारीचवधोत्तरं रामस्य शङ्का-निमित्त-दर्शनं लक्ष्मण-निग्रहश्च

स तस्य स्वरमाज्ञाय दारुणं रोमहर्षणम्।चिन्तयामास गोमायोस्स्वरेण परिशङ्कितः।।।।
sa tasya svaram ājñāya dāruṇaṃ romaharṣaṇam |
cintayāmāsa gomāyos svareṇa pariśaṅkitaḥ ||
ആ ഭീകരവും രോമാഞ്ചം വരുത്തുന്നതുമായ ശബ്ദം ഗോമായുവിന്റെ (കുറുക്കന്റെ) നിലവിളിയെന്ന് തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ, രാമൻ ആശങ്കപ്പെട്ടു ഭീതിയോടെ ചിന്തയിൽ മുങ്ങി.
