मारीचवधोत्तरं रामस्य शङ्का-निमित्त-दर्शनं लक्ष्मण-निग्रहश्च

इदं हि रक्षो मृगसन्निकाशं प्रलोभ्य मां दूरमनुप्रयान्तम्।हतं कथञ्चिन्महता श्रमेण स राक्षसोऽभून्म्रियमाण एव।।।।
idaṃ hi rakṣo mṛgasannikāśaṃ pralobhya māṃ dūram anuprayāntam |
hataṃ kathañcin mahatā śrameṇa sa rākṣaso ’bhūn mriyamāṇa eva ||
മൃഗസദൃശമായ വേഷം ധരിച്ച ഈ രാക്ഷസൻ എന്നെ വഞ്ചിച്ച് ദൂരത്തേക്ക് ആകർഷിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോയി. മഹത്തായ പരിശ്രമത്തോടെ ഞാൻ കഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു അവനെ വധിച്ചു; മരിക്കുമ്പോഴേ അവൻ തന്റെ യഥാർത്ഥ ദൈത്യരൂപം വെളിപ്പെടുത്തി.
