मारीचवधोत्तरं रामस्य शङ्का-निमित्त-दर्शनं लक्ष्मण-निग्रहश्च

मनश्च मे दीनमिहाप्रहृष्टं चक्षुश्च सव्यं कुरुते विकारम्।असंशयं लक्ष्मण नास्ति सीता हृता मृता वा पथि वर्तते वा।।।।

manaś ca me dīnam ihāprahṛṣṭaṃ cakṣuś ca savyaṃ kurute vikāram |

asaṃśayaṃ lakṣmaṇa nāsti sītā hṛtā mṛtā vā pathi vartate vā ||

എന്റെ മനസ്സ് ഇവിടെ ദീനമായി തളർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇടത് കണ്ണും അശുഭലക്ഷണമായി വിറയ്ക്കുന്നു. ഹേ ലക്ഷ്മണാ, സംശയമില്ല—സീത ഇനി ഇവിടെ ഇല്ല; അവൾ അപഹരിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കാം, അല്ലെങ്കിൽ മരിച്ചിരിക്കാം, അല്ലെങ്കിൽ വഴിയിൽ എവിടെയോ കിടക്കുകയാകാം.
