Umāpati (Śiva/Maheśvara)
Concept: When the cosmos is sustained by divine order, the teaching that follows is not mere information but mind-purifying speech (manasaḥ prītikārakam) that steadies the seeker.
Application: Choose teachings that calm and clarify rather than agitate; measure spiritual instruction by its capacity to increase sattva, devotion, and steadiness.

Brahmā poses a question, and Śiva (called Umāpati and Viśvātmā) begins his reply, introducing the forthcoming teaching as mind-delighting and beneficial.
By calling him “Viśvātmā” (universal Self) and “Lokabhāvanaḥ” (sustainer of worlds), the verse presents Śiva as a cosmic principle—both immanent and world-supporting.
