ब्राह्मण उवाच । क्षुधार्त्त शृणु मे कश्चिद्वाक्यं कर्तुं न विद्यते । पाकं मे तंडुलानि त्वं नीत्वा भुंक्ष्व यथासुखम्

brāhmaṇa uvāca | kṣudhārtta śṛṇu me kaścidvākyaṃ kartuṃ na vidyate | pākaṃ me taṃḍulāni tvaṃ nītvā bhuṃkṣva yathāsukham

ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ പറഞ്ഞു— “ഹേ വിശപ്പാൽ പീഡിതനേ, എന്റെ വാക്ക് കേൾക്കുക; പറയാൻ വലിയ വാക്കുകൾ എനിക്കില്ല. എന്റെ അരി എടുത്തുകൊണ്ടുപോയി പാകംചെയ്ത്, നിനക്ക് സുഖമുള്ളപോലെ ഭക്ഷിക്ക.”
