भार्योवाच । सत्यमुक्तं त्वया राजन्नास्ति धर्मस्य वै फलम् । वेदशास्त्रपुराणेषु ये पठंति च ब्राह्मणाः

bhāryovāca | satyamuktaṃ tvayā rājannāsti dharmasya vai phalam | vedaśāstrapurāṇeṣu ye paṭhaṃti ca brāhmaṇāḥ

ഭാര്യ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ രാജാവേ, നീ പറഞ്ഞത് സത്യമാണ്; വെദം, ശാസ്ത്രം, പുരാണം എന്നിവ വെറും പാരായണം മാത്രം ചെയ്യുന്ന ബ്രാഹ്മണർക്കു ധർമ്മഫലം ഇല്ല.
