The Greatness of Haridvāra

Sanatkumara (teaching Narada in the Uttara-Bhaga tirtha-mahatmya dialogue)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti (devotion)
Secondary Rasa: shanta (peace)
It declares that a properly performed sacred bath at the Hari-pada tirtha makes one especially dear to Vishnu and capable of receiving both bhukti (life’s rightful enjoyments) and mukti (liberation).
Bhakti here is expressed through reverent, rule-guided tirtha practice (vidhivat snana) centered on Hari/Vishnu, emphasizing loving relationship—becoming “Vishnu’s beloved” as the fruit of devotion.
The verse stresses vidhivat (proper procedure), pointing to Kalpa/ritual discipline—performing snana with correct rules, timing, and purity as taught in dharma- and ritual-oriented traditions.
