The Greatness of Puruṣottama Kṣetra
dhanurvede ca vede ca śāstre ca nipuṇaḥ kṛtī | vallabho naranārīṇāṃ paurṇamāsyāṃ yathā śaśī || 43 ||
Narada (teaching in narrative flow; traditional dialogue frame with Sanatkumara lineage)
Vrata: Pūrṇimā (full-moon observance)
Rasa: {"primary_rasa":"adbhuta","secondary_rasa":"shanta","emotional_journey":"Moves from mastery of disciplines (martial, Vedic, śāstric) to a luminous social charm, climaxing in the simile of the full-moon night."}
It praises integrated mastery—Veda (revelation), śāstra (systematic teaching), and practical science (Dhanurveda)—showing that disciplined knowledge refined into competence naturally earns respect, like the full moon drawing admiration.
Indirectly, it supports bhakti by valuing śāstric clarity and Vedic grounding; such learning stabilizes conduct and understanding, which in Purāṇic teaching becomes a firm base for sincere devotion and dharmic living.
The verse highlights applied śāstra-learning and Dhanurveda (a traditional upaveda); while not naming a specific Vedāṅga, it aligns with the Narada Purana’s emphasis on technical disciplines that support dharma and competent action.
