Description of Pilgrimage to the Sacred Fords
kṛttivāseśvaraṃ dṛṣṭvā taṃ saṃpūjya parāṃ gatim | ekena janmanā devi kṛttivāse tu labhyate | pūrvajanmakṛtaṃ pāpaṃ tapasāpi na śuddhyati || 7 ||
Narada (in dialogue addressed to Devi, within the Tirtha-Mahatmya narration)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It declares the extraordinary power of the Kṛttivāsa tīrtha: mere darśana and proper worship of Kṛttivāseśvara can grant the “supreme goal” (parā gati), surpassing what austerity alone may not accomplish.
Bhakti is expressed through darśana (reverent seeing) and saṃpūjā (wholehearted worship). The verse emphasizes grace accessed through devotional acts at a sacred kṣetra, leading to liberation within one lifetime.
The practical takeaway is ritual application (kalpa/ācāra): performing correct pūjā at a prescribed tīrtha. It is less about technical Vedāṅga theory and more about prescribed sacred practice (tīrtha-yātrā and worship).
