Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
It sets a dharmic boundary: indulgence is judged by its effect on the mind—once one crosses the limit and continues, it turns into pāpa and makes the person a pātakī.
Bhakti requires inner clarity and restraint; this verse warns that excess dulls discrimination and purity, which obstructs steady devotion and remembrance.
Ācāra (right conduct) and niyama (self-regulation) are emphasized—practical discipline that supports ritual purity and focused recitation/learning within Vedanga-oriented life.
