सूत उवाच । श्रुत्वेत्थं यजनं विप्रा मन्त्रध्यानपुरःसरम् । सर्वासामवताराणां नारदो देवदर्शनः ॥ १ ॥

sūta uvāca | śrutvetthaṃ yajanaṃ viprā mantradhyānapuraḥsaram | sarvāsāmavatārāṇāṃ nārado devadarśanaḥ || 1 ||

സൂതൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ വിപ്രന്മാരേ! മന്ത്രജപവും ധ്യാനവും മുൻനിർത്തിയ ഇത്തരമൊരു യജനത്തെ കേട്ടശേഷം, ദേവദർശിയായ നാരദൻ സർവ്വ അവതാരങ്ങളെ സംബന്ധിച്ച് (പ്രസംഗം ആരംഭിച്ചു)॥ १ ॥
