Sanatkumara (in instruction to Narada on technical rites/remedial procedures)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: raudra
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
It reflects the Purana’s technical (śāstra-prayoga) strand: specific substances are assigned specific ritual effects, showing how material means were cataloged within dharmic remedial rites rather than presented as abstract philosophy alone.
This verse is primarily procedural rather than devotional; in the broader Narada Purana frame, such rites are secondary supports within dharma, while bhakti to Viṣṇu is upheld elsewhere as the higher, purifying path beyond coercive aims.
It highlights applied ritual know-how—classification of substances by intended effect (e.g., stambhana, vaśīkaraṇa)—a technical layer often associated with auxiliary ritual sciences and prayoga traditions within the Vedāṅga-oriented sections.
