Vrata: none

Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
It stresses that mantra-japa is not merely repetition; without discerning mantra-doṣa (faults), one’s practice becomes tainted and may fail to yield the intended spiritual or ritual fruit.
Bhakti is strengthened by śraddhā guided by right knowledge; the verse implies that devotion expressed through mantra should be aligned with proper understanding and discipline, not performed blindly.
It highlights the Vedāṅga-oriented principle of correct mantra-application—knowing and avoiding defects in recitation/usage—so that japa and ritual practice remain valid and effective.
