The Narration of the Brāhma Purāṇa’s Account
Brāhma Purāṇānukramaṇikā
haviṣyāśī ca niyamātsa labhedbrahmaṇaḥ padam | kimatra bahunoktena yadyadicchati mānavaḥ | tatsarvaṃ labhate vatsa purāṇasyāsya kīrtanāt || 48 ||
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada, in phala-śruti style)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It elevates Purāṇa-kīrtana (recitation/proclamation) as a powerful sādhanā whose fruit can surpass elaborate austerities—granting both worldly aims and higher spiritual attainments, even up to Brahmā’s station.
By emphasizing “kīrtana” as the means to gain desired results, it aligns with bhakti practice—devotional praising and reciting sacred narratives as an accessible, efficacious path.
Ritual discipline is implied through niyama and haviṣyāśī (regulated sacred diet connected to yajña); it reflects practical dharma-śāstra and kalpa-oriented observance rather than a technical Vedāṅga lesson.
