This verse functions as an anukramaṇikā (table-of-contents) marker, showing that the text integrates Śrī (Lakṣmī), righteous kingship (Indradyumna), dharma through varṇa-āśrama conduct, and cosmic origins—linking devotion and ethics to a complete Purāṇic worldview.
By foregrounding Lakṣmī and the Kūrma (a Viṣṇu-avatāra context), it signals a Vaiṣṇava devotional frame where narratives of divine figures and exemplary rulers support bhakti, while dharma (ācāra) provides the lived discipline that sustains devotion.
The practical emphasis is on dharma-śāstra-aligned varṇa-āśrama ācāra (codes of conduct and ritual propriety). While not naming a specific Vedāṅga, it points to applied ritual and ethical regulation that typically relies on śikṣā and vyākaraṇa for correct recitation and interpretation.
