व्यासश्चतुर्द्धा संव्यस्य ब्रह्मवैवर्तसंज्ञिते । अष्टादशसहस्रं तत्पुराणं परिकीर्तितम् ॥ ५ ॥
vyāsaścaturddhā saṃvyasya brahmavaivartasaṃjñite | aṣṭādaśasahasraṃ tatpurāṇaṃ parikīrtitam || 5 ||
വ്യാസൻ ഇതിനെ നാലു ഖണ്ഡങ്ങളായി വിന്യസിച്ച് ‘ബ്രഹ്മവൈവർത്ത’ എന്ന പേരിൽ പുരാണമായി പ്രസിദ്ധപ്പെടുത്തി; ഇത് അഷ്ടാദശ സഹസ്ര ശ്ലോകങ്ങളുള്ളതെന്ന് പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
