मार्कण्डेय उवाच इत्युक्त्वा स महाभागः स्पृष्ट्वापः प्रयतः शुचिः ।
प्राहेदं प्रणिपत्याग्निं गार्हपत्यं उपांशुना ॥
mārkaṇḍeya uvāca ity uktvā sa mahābhāgaḥ spṛṣṭvāpaḥ prayataḥ śuciḥ | prāhedaṃ praṇipatya agniṃ gārhapatyaṃ upāṃśunā ||
മാർക്കണ്ഡേയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞ ശേഷം ആ ഭാഗ്യവാൻ ജലം സ്പർശിച്ച്, സംയമിതനായി ശുദ്ധനായി, ഗാർഹപത്യ അഗ്നിയെ നമസ്കരിച്ചു മൃദുസ്വരത്തിൽ ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞു।
