वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical weight of facing formidable power: an encounter with a warrior of extraordinary capability is not a casual event but a consequential meeting that invites explanation—how it arose, under what circumstances, and with what intent.
Vaiśampāyana, continuing the narration, asks (addressing the listener as ‘tāta’) how the listener came to meet Duryodhana in confrontation, emphasizing Duryodhana’s fearsome martial strength by the hyperbole that his arrows could pierce even a mountain.
