Adhyāya 6: Kaṅka (Yudhiṣṭhira) Seeks Refuge in Virāṭa’s Assembly

matprasādāc ca te saukhyam ārogyaṃ ca bhaviṣyati | ye ca saṃkīrtayiṣyanti loke vigatakalmaṣāḥ ||

Educational Q&A

The verse emphasizes the transformative power of grace and remembrance: divine or authoritative favor brings well-being (happiness and health), and sincere proclamation/recitation of sacred narrative purifies the reciter, removing moral impurity (kalmaṣa).

Vaiśampāyana, as narrator, reports a boon-like assurance: the recipient will gain happiness and health through the speaker’s favor, and a wider benefit is promised for future listeners/reciters—those who publicly recount and praise the account will be cleansed of sin.
