Kṛpa’s Counsel and a Discourse on Statecraft

rasāḥ sparśāś ca gandhāś ca śabdāś cāpi guṇānvitāḥ | dṛśyāni ca prasannāni yatra rājā yudhiṣṭhiraḥ ||

Educational Q&A

The verse conveys that a dharmic ruler’s presence elevates the environment itself: sensory experiences become wholesome and sights become pleasing. Ethically, it suggests that inner virtue and righteous governance radiate outward, producing social and even experiential well-being.

Vaiśampāyana describes Yudhiṣṭhira’s auspicious influence: wherever he is, the surroundings feel благоприятные—pleasant to the senses and delightful to behold—highlighting his reputation as a king whose dharma brings prosperity and serenity.
