Kali and Dvāpara’s Resolve Against Nala
iti śrīmahābhārate vanaparvaṇi nalopākhyānaparvaṇi nalasya devadautye pañcapañcāśattamo 'dhyāyaḥ
As a colophon, the verse does not teach through direct instruction; it frames the preceding narrative as a dharma-relevant episode—Nala’s conduct is presented within a ‘divine envoy’ context, highlighting duty, restraint, and ethical action even when one is personally afflicted.
This line signals the conclusion of Adhyāya 55 in the Nala episode of the Vana Parva, identifying the chapter’s thematic focus as Nala’s devadūtya—his role or mission as a messenger connected with the gods—and formally closing that chapter.
