कलेर्द्वापरस्य च नले प्रति कोपः
Kali and Dvāpara’s Resolve Against Nala
एवमुक्तस्तु वैदर्भ्या नलस्तां प्रत्युवाच ह । “आप कौन हैं? आपके सम्पूर्ण अंग निर्दोष एवं परम सुन्दर हैं। आप मेरे हृदयकी कामाग्निको बढ़ा रहे हैं। निष्पाप वीर! आप देवताओंके समान यहाँ आ पहुँचे हैं। मैं आपका परिचय पाना चाहती हूँ। आपका इस रनिवासमें आना कैसे सम्भव हुआ? आपको किसीने देखा कैसे नहीं? मेरा यह महल अत्यन्त सुरक्षित है और यहाँके राजाका शासन बड़ा कठोर है--वे अपराधियोंको बड़ा कठोर दण्ड देते हैं।” विदर्भराजकुमारीके ऐसा पूछनेपर नलने इस प्रकार उत्तर दिया
evam uktas tu vaidarbhyā nalas tāṃ pratyuvāca ha | “āp kaun haiṃ? āpke sampūrṇa aṅga nirdōṣa evaṃ parama sundara haiṃ | āp mere hṛdayakī kāmāgniko baḍhā rahe haiṃ | niṣpāpa vīra! āp devatāoṃ ke samāna yahāṃ ā pahuṃce haiṃ | maiṃ āpkā paricaya pānā cāhatī hūṃ | āpkā is ranivāsa meṃ ānā kaise sambhava huā? āpko kisīne dekhā kaise nahīṃ? merā yah mahal atyanta surakṣita hai aura yahāṃ ke rājā kā śāsana baḍā kaṭhora hai—ve aparādhiyoṃ ko baḍā kaṭhora daṇḍ dete haiṃ.” vaidarbharājakumārī ke aisā pūchne par nal ne is prakāra uttar diyā
വൈദർഭി ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ നലൻ അവൾക്ക് മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു. അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു—“നീ ആരാണ്? നിന്റെ എല്ലാ അവയവങ്ങളും ദോഷരഹിതവും അത്യന്തം സുന്ദരവുമാണ്. നീ എന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിലെ കാമാഗ്നിയെ വർധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. ഹേ നിർപാപ വീരാ! ദേവനെപ്പോലെ നീ ഇവിടെ എത്തിച്ചേർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. നിന്റെ പരിചയം അറിയാൻ ഞാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു. നീ എങ്ങനെ ഈ അന്തഃപുരത്തിലേക്ക് പ്രവേശിച്ചു? ആരും നിന്നെ എങ്ങനെ കണ്ടില്ല? എന്റെ ഈ മഹൽ അത്യന്തം കാവലുള്ളതാണ്; ഇവിടെ രാജാവിന്റെ ഭരണം കഠിനമാണ്—അപരാധികൾക്ക് കടുത്ത ശിക്ഷ നൽകുന്നു.” വൈദർഭി ഇങ്ങനെ ചോദിച്ചപ്പോൾ നലൻ യഥോചിതമായി മറുപടി നൽകി.
