धर्मोड्हमिति भद्र ते जिज्ञासुस्त्वामिहागत: । आनुृशंस्येन तुष्टोडस्मि वरं दास्यामि तेडनघ,तुम्हारा मंगल हो। मैं धर्म हूँ और तुम्हारा व्यवहार जाननेकी इच्छासे ही यहाँ आया हूँ। निष्पाप राजन! तुम्हारी दयालुता और समदर्शितासे मैं तुमपर प्रसन्न हूँ और तुम्हें वर देना चाहता हूँ
yakṣa uvāca | dharmoḍham iti bhadra te jijñāsus tvām ihāgataḥ | ānṛśaṁsyena tuṣṭo ’smi varaṁ dāsyāmi te ’nagha ||
യക്ഷൻ പറഞ്ഞു—നിനക്കു മംഗളം. ഞാൻ ധർമ്മമാണ്; നിന്റെ ആചാരം അറിയാനും പരീക്ഷിക്കാനും ആഗ്രഹിച്ചാണ് ഇവിടെ വന്നത്. നിർപാപ രാജാവേ, നിന്റെ കരുണയും സമദർശിത്വവും എന്നെ സന്തുഷ്ടനാക്കി; അതുകൊണ്ട് ഞാൻ നിനക്കൊരു വരം നൽകാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു.
