संतापित: पिता माता वयं चैव नृपात्मज । कस्मादिति न जानीमस्तत्‌ सर्व वक्तुमहसि,राजपुत्र! तुमने आनेमें विलम्ब करके अपने माता-पिता तथा हमलोगोंको भी भारी संतापमें डाल दिया था। तुमने ऐसा क्यों किया? यह हम नहीं जान पाते हैं, अतः सब बातें स्पष्ट रूपसे बताओ

santāpitaḥ pitā mātā vayaṃ caiva nṛpātmaja | kasmād iti na jānīmas tat sarvaṃ vaktum arhasi rājaputra ||

“ഹേ നൃപാത്മജാ! നിന്റെ വൈകിപ്പോകലാൽ നിന്റെ പിതാവും മാതാവും ഞങ്ങളുമെല്ലാം അത്യന്തം വ്യാകുലപ്പെട്ടു. നീ എന്തുകൊണ്ട് ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തു എന്നത് ഞങ്ങൾക്കറിയില്ല. അതിനാൽ എല്ലാം വ്യക്തമായി പറയുക.”
