सत्यवानुवाच पित्राहमभ्यनुज्ञात: सावित्रीसहितो गतः । अथ मे<भूच्छिरोदु:खं वने काष्ठानि भिन्दतः,सत्यवान् बोले--मैं पिताकी आज्ञा पाकर सावित्रीके साथ वनमें गया। फिर वनमें लकड़ियोंको चीरते समय मेरे सिरमें बड़े जोरसे दर्द होने लगा
satyavān uvāca: pitrāham abhyanujñātaḥ sāvitrīsahito gataḥ | atha me 'bhūc chiroduḥkhaṃ vane kāṣṭhāni bhindataḥ ||
സത്യവാൻ പറഞ്ഞു—പിതാവിന്റെ അനുവാദം നേടി ഞാൻ സാവിത്രിയോടൊപ്പം വനത്തിലേക്ക് പോയി. അവിടെ വിറകുകൾ പിളർത്തിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അപ്രതീക്ഷിതമായി എന്റെ തലയിൽ അത്യന്തം കടുത്ത വേദന ഉയർന്നു.
