Educational Q&A

The verse frames violence within a stated cosmic-ethical purpose: the removal of destructive forces (Dānavas) and the restoration/fulfillment of divine order and rightful aims (the Devas’ artha). It emphasizes intention and dharmic teleology—action is justified here as serving a larger moral-cosmic balance.

Skanda declares the objective of an impending or ongoing divine conflict: the Dānavas are to be destroyed, and the gods’ mission is to be successfully accomplished. The line functions as a concise statement of purpose for the episode’s divine intervention.
