Educational Q&A

The verse highlights ethical seriousness in speech and action: truth must be spoken with certainty, and if one accepts an authority’s instruction, one should listen attentively and be prepared to carry it out. It links सत्य (truth) with निश्चय (firm resolve) and with disciplined obedience to rightful command.

Indra addresses Skanda directly, testing or confirming Skanda’s intent: either Skanda’s prior words are truly meant, or he is ready to execute Indra’s आदेश (command). Indra then calls Skanda to listen, signaling that further instruction or a decisive directive is about to follow.
