द्रौपदी–सत्यभामा संवादः

Draupadī and Satyabhāmā on ethical household conduct

तपसश्च मनु पुत्र भानुं चाप्यड्रिरा: सृजत्‌ । बृहद्धानु तु त॑ प्राहुब्राह्मिणा वेदपारगा:,तपके मनु (प्रजापति) स्वरूप पुत्र भानु नामक अग्निको अंगिराने भी (अपना प्रभाव अर्पित करके) नूतन जीवन प्रदान किया है। वेदोंके पारगामी विद्वान ब्राह्मण भानुको ही “बृहद्धानु' कहते हैं

tapasaś ca manu-putra bhānuṃ cāpy aṅgirāḥ sṛjat | bṛhaddhānuṃ tu taṃ prāhur brāhmaṇā veda-pāragāḥ ||

മാർക്കണ്ഡേയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ മനുപുത്രാ! തപസ്സിന്റെ ശക്തിയാൽ അങ്കിരസ് ഭാനു എന്ന അഗ്നിയെ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു, അവനു പുതുതായി തേജസ്സും പകർന്നു നൽകി. വേദപാരഗന്മാരായ ബ്രാഹ്മണർ ആ ഭാനുവിനെ ‘ബൃഹദ്ധാനു’ എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നു.
