मार्कण्डेय उदाच वृत्ते देवासुरे राजन् संग्रामे लोमहर्षणे । त्रयाणामपि लोकानामिन्द्रो लोकाधिपो5भवत्,मार्कण्डेयजी बोले--राजन्! जब रोंगटे खड़े कर देनेवाला देवासुर-संग्राम समाप्त हो गया, उस समय लोकपाल इन्द्र तीनों लोकोंके अधिपति बना दिये गये
Mārkaṇḍeya uvāca: vṛtte devāsure rājan saṅgrāme lomaharṣaṇe | trayāṇām api lokānām indro lokādhipo 'bhavat ||
മാർകണ്ഡേയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—രാജാവേ! ദേവാസുരന്മാരുടെ രോമാഞ്ചകരമായ യുദ്ധം അവസാനിച്ചപ്പോൾ, ഇന്ദ്രൻ മൂന്നു ലോകങ്ങളുടെയും അധിപതിയായി സ്ഥാപിതനായി.
