दृश्यन्ते शान्तरजस: क्षपा जलदशीतला: । ग्रहनक्षत्रसड्घैश्व॒ सोमेन च विराजिता:,उस समयकी रातें धूलरहित एवं निर्मल दिखायी देती थीं। बादलोंके समान उनमें शीतलता थी। ग्रहों और नक्षत्रोंके समुदाय तथा चन्द्रमा उनकी शोभा बढ़ाते थे
dṛśyante śānta-rajasaḥ kṣapā jalada-śītalāḥ | graha-nakṣatra-saṅghaiś ca somena ca virājitāḥ ||
വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു—അന്നത്തെ രാത്രികൾ പൊടിയില്ലാതെ നിർമ്മലമായി ദൃശ്യമായിരുന്നു; മഴമേഘങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ ശീതളവുമായിരുന്നു. ഗ്രഹ-നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളുടെ കൂട്ടവും ചന്ദ്രനും അവയെ അലങ്കരിച്ച് കൂടുതൽ ശോഭ പകർന്നു.
