राज्ञो वृत्त-गुण-संग्रहः (Conduct and the Thirty-Six Virtues of a King) / The King’s Code of Conduct
एवं चरस्व राज्यस्थो यदि श्रेय इहेच्छसि । अतोडन्यथा नरपतिर्भयमृत्छत्यनुत्तमम्
evaṁ carasva rājyastho yadi śreya ihecchasi | ato ’nyathā narapatir bhayam ṛcchaty anuttamam, yudhiṣṭhira ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—യുധിഷ്ഠിരാ! ഈ ലോകത്തിൽ തന്നെ ക്ഷേമം ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ, രാജധർമ്മത്തിൽ സ്ഥാപിതനായി ഇങ്ങനെ തന്നേ പെരുമാറുക; ഇതിന് വിരുദ്ധമായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന രാജാവ് അതുല്യമായ ഭയത്തിലും മഹാവിപത്തിലും പതിക്കുന്നു.
