प्रहरेन्न त्वविज्ञाय हत्वा शत्रूनू न शोचयेत् । क्रोधं कुर्यान्न चाकस्मान्मृदुः स्यान्नापकारिषु
praharenna tv avijñāya hatvā śatrūn na śocayet | krodhaṃ kuryān na cākasmān mṛduḥ syān nāpakāriṣu ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—കാര്യത്തെ അറിയാതെ ആരെയും പ്രഹരിക്കരുത്. ശത്രുക്കളെ വധിച്ച ശേഷം ശോകത്തിൽ വീഴരുത്. അകാരണമായി, അപ്രതീക്ഷിതമായി ആരോടും ക്രോധിക്കരുത്. മൃദുവായിരിക്കണം—എന്നാൽ അപകാരം ചെയ്യുന്നവരോടല്ല।
