नारुन्तुदः स्यान्न नृशंसवादी न हीनत: परमभ्याददीत । ययास्य वाचा पर उद्विजेत नतां वदेद्रुषतीं पापलोक्याम्
nārun-tudaḥ syān na nṛśaṃsa-vādī na hīnataḥ param abhyādadīta | yayāsya vācā para udvijeta na tāṃ vaded ruṣatīṃ pāpa-lokyām ||
ഹംസൻ പറഞ്ഞു—മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ മർമ്മത്തെ കുത്തുന്നവനാകരുത്; ക്രൂരവചനങ്ങൾ പറയരുത്. നീചബുദ്ധിയുള്ളവനിൽ നിന്ന് ഉന്നത ഉപദേശം സ്വീകരിക്കരുത്. മറ്റുള്ളവരെ വ്യാകുലപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന—കഠിനവും അമംഗളവും പാപലോകത്തിലേക്ക് നയിക്കുന്നതുമായ—അത്തരം വാക്കുകൾ ഉച്ചരിക്കരുത്.
