Ātma-saṃyama-dharma: One-pointedness of Mind and Senses (शुक–व्यास संवादः)

धर्मलब्धर्युतो दारैरग्नीनुत्पाद्य यत्नत: । द्वितीयमायुषो भागं गृहमेधी भवेद्‌ व्रती,धर्मतः पत्नीका पाणिग्रहण करके उसके साथ यत्नपूर्वक अग्निकी स्थापना करे और आयुके द्वितीय भाग अर्थात्‌ पचास वर्षकी अवस्थातक उत्तम व्रतका पालन करते हुए गृहस्थ बना रहे

dharmalabdhairyuto dārair agnīn utpādya yatnataḥ | dvitīyam āyuṣo bhāgaṁ gṛhamedhī bhaved vratī ||

ധർമ്മപ്രകാരം ഭാര്യയെ ലഭിച്ചവൻ, അവളോടൊപ്പം പരിശ്രമപൂർവം ഗൃഹ്യാഗ്നികളെ സ്ഥാപിക്കണം. പിന്നെ ഉത്തമവ്രതങ്ങൾ പാലിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ആയുസ്സിന്റെ രണ്ടാം ഭാഗം—ഏകദേശം അമ്പത് വയസ്സുവരെ—ധർമ്മാനുസാരമായി ഗൃഹസ്ഥനായി ജീവിക്കണം.
