Transliteration

Vaiśampāyana uvāca: kāṣṭha-bhūto 'śrama-pade vasati sama-mahātapāḥ.

Translation

വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ആ മഹാതപസ്വി ആശ്രമസ്ഥാനത്ത് മരംപോലെ മാറിയവനെന്നോണം നിശ്ചലനും സംയമനിഷ്ഠനുമായി വസിച്ചു. ദേവലമുനി ആശ്രമത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിച്ച ഉടൻ അവിടെ ഇരുന്ന ജൈഗീഷവ്യനെ കണ്ടു; എന്നാൽ ജൈഗീഷവ്യൻ അപ്പോഴും യാതൊരു വിധത്തിലും സംസാരിച്ചില്ല. ആ മഹാതപസ്വി മുനി കാഷ്ഠമൗനം ധരിച്ചു അവിടെ തന്നെ ആസീനനായി ഇരുന്നു.
