शल्यस्य सेनापत्याभ्युपगमः | Śalya’s Acceptance of Command
न निवारयितु शक््या: संग्रामात्ते परंतपा:,“इसलिये अब उन शत्रुसंतापी वीरोंको युद्धसे रोका नहीं जा सकता। जबसे द्रौपदीको क्लेश दिया गया, तबसे वह दुःखी हो मेरे विनाशका संकल्प लेकर प्रतिदिन मिट्टीकी वेदीपर सोया करती है। जबतक वैरका पूरा बदला न चुका लिया जाय, तबतकके लिये उसने यह व्रत ले रखा है
na nivārayitu śakyāḥ saṅgrāmāt te paraṃtapāḥ |
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—അതുകൊണ്ട് ശത്രുസന്താപികളായ ആ വീരന്മാരെ ഇനി യുദ്ധത്തിൽ നിന്ന് തടയാൻ കഴിയില്ല. ദ്രൗപദിക്ക് അപമാനവും ക്ലേശവും സംഭവിച്ച നാൾ മുതൽ അവൾ ദുഃഖത്തോടെ നമ്മുടെ വിനാശം നിശ്ചയിച്ച് ദിനംപ്രതി മണ്ണുവേദിയിൽ ശയിക്കുന്നു; വൈരത്തിന്റെ പൂർണ്ണ പ്രതികാരം തീരുന്നതുവരെ അവൾ ഈ വ്രതം വിടുകയില്ല.
