शल्यपर्वणि प्रथमाध्यायः — Karṇa-vadha-anantaraṃ Śalya-niyogaḥ, Saṃjayasya Dhṛtarāṣṭra-nivedanam

ममानाथस्य सुभशं पुत्रैहीनस्य सर्वश: । एवमुक्‍क्त्वा ततो भूयो विसंज्ञो निषपषात ह,चेतना पाकर राजा धुृतराष्ट्र अत्यन्त दुःखी हो थर-थर काँपने लगे और सम्पूर्ण दिशाओंकी ओर देखकर विदुरसे इस प्रकार बोले--'विद्वन्‌! महाज्ञानी विदुर! भरतभूषण! अब तुम्हीं मुझ पुत्रहीन और अनाथके सर्वथा आश्रय हो।” इतना कहकर वे पुनः अचेत हो पृथ्वीपर गिर पड़े

mamānāthasya subhṛśaṃ putrair hīnasya sarvaśaḥ | evam uktvā tato bhūyo visaṃjño nipapāta ha ||

വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു— “ഞാൻ പുത്രഹീനനും സർവ്വഥാ അനാഥനും ആകുന്നു; ഇനി നീയേ എന്റെ സമ്പൂർണ്ണ ആശ്രയം.” ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞ് രാജാവ് വീണ്ടും ബോധം നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു ഭൂമിയിൽ വീണു.

Dhṛtarāṣṭra, overwhelmed by sorrow after the loss of his sons, declares Vidura to be his only refuge; immediately afterward he again faints and falls to the ground, showing the depth of his despair.
