dhṛtarāṣṭra uvāca | karṇa-duryodhanādīnāṃ śakuneḥ saubalasya ca | āpannam (vā: ānītaṃ) mahat tāta tava caiva viśeṣataḥ ||
ധൃതരാഷ്ട്രൻ പറഞ്ഞു— ‘പ്രിയനേ, കർണ്ണൻ, ദുര്യോധനൻ മുതലായവർക്കും, സൗബലനായ ശകുനിക്കും, പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് നിനക്കും മഹാവിപത്ത് സംഭവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു।’
धृतराष्ट उवाच
The verse frames the war’s outcome as a ‘great calamity’ affecting not only the principal wrongdoers but also their supporters, highlighting the ethical idea that adharma-driven choices bring widespread suffering and shared consequences.
