sañjaya uvāca | preṣayāmāsa samare so 'sya kāye nyamajjata | tad-anantaraṃ raṇakṣetre te dvitīya-kāladaṇḍa-samam atyanta-bhayaṅkaraṃ bāṇam acālayat | sa bāṇo dhṛṣṭadyumnasya śarīre dhaṃs gataḥ |
സഞ്ജയൻ പറഞ്ഞു—സമരത്തിൽ അവൻ ഒരു ശരമയച്ചു; അത് അവന്റെ ദേഹത്തിൽ കുത്തിപ്പറ്റി. തുടർന്ന് രണഭൂമിയിൽ മരണത്തിന്റെ രണ്ടാം ദണ്ഡംപോലെ അതിഭീകരമായ ഒരു ബാണം വിട്ടു; ആ ബാണം ധൃഷ്ടദ്യുമ്നന്റെ ശരീരത്തിൽ തുളച്ചു കുടുങ്ങി നിന്നു।
